Whatever name you know this condiment by, this is the recipe you will remember having at your grandparent house. It's a timeless old recipe converted for the Thermomix.
Peel and dice the Choko. Place them in a large plastic container and then sprinkle with 1/2 cup salt. Leave them to stand, covered overnight. Strain the Choko and rinse thoroughly the next morning.
Add the Choko to the TM Bowl. Chop 5 sec/Speed 7.
Remove the Choko from the TM bowl. Pour them into the internal steaming basket and allow them to drain further on the sink.
Place the onion and ginger in the TM Bowl. Chop 3 sec/Speed 9.
Return the Choko to the TM bowl and add the diced apple, sugar, vinegar, turmeric, curry powder, mustard powder, mustard seeds and ground cloves. Cook 90 min/100/Speed 1 (MC OUT). Place the internal steam basket over the lid to prevent splatter.
Combine remaining vinegar and flour in a small jug, stir to make a paste.
Add the paste to the chutney, combine 1 min/100/Speed 3 - REVERSE (MC OUT). Place the internal steam basket over the lid to prevent splatter. Cook 12min/100/Speed 1.
Whilst the chutney is still hot pour into sterilised jars and seal. Chutney should be stored in the fridge.
Make sure you sterilise your jars whilst the chutney is cooking.
