Description
Thermomix® Cutter attachment gives the TM5 or TM6 food processor functionality. It allows the Thermomix to slice thick or thin, or by simply flipping the blade grate vegetables finely or thicker julienne style.
What is The Cutter Attachment?
The cutter is another way that Thermomix makes your life easier in the kitchen using just one piece of equipment, your Thermomix! By adding the latest attachment you can throw away your food processor, mandolin, and box grater. The Cutter makes preparing beautiful vegetables even easier. So much less work! The Thermomix® Cutter has 1 single disc that offers 4 cutting functions making short work of preparing whole salads, or just adding the finishing touches to dishes.
Is the Cutter in Australia?
Thermomix Cutter had a soft launch in January 2023 with leading consultants receiving the opportunity to earn the new product by achieving sales targets. I was fortunate in getting my hands on a cutter early so I put it through its paces. Later in this review, you will see a YouTube video I put together which shows various fruits, vegetables, and cheese being sliced and grated.
Thermomix Cutter Pricing?
Although pricing is yet to be officially confirmed all indications are that it will be $199. Various promotions since the start of the year have used that price to value the cutter.
When Will the Thermomix Cutter Be in the Mixshop?
Again, we have only been given vague indications, but I do believe it is a matter of soon! Any week now I expect an announcement to be made.
If you want to be notified as soon as it's available leave your details below and I will send an email the minute it goes on sale. If history is any indication, we seem to sell out of new products quickly!!
Is The Cutter Available Now?
The cutter has been available as an incentive for new TM6 sales and as a package deal for those interested in upgrading their TM31 to a TM6. However, both of those offers have now expired.
It was also a host reward for a short time. However, we have another fabulous host reward at the moment.
You can get an extra Bowl Blade Lid Set by hosting a qualifying Cooking Experience that results in a sale. So, if you have a friend that wants to buy a Thermomix, now is a great time to host. You can even host virtually and never leave your couch! So if that sounds like you, fill in this form!
What Does the Cutter Do Well?
After having tested the cutter for about 4 months now I have a list of things the attachment handles well, and some items that are best avoided. To help you I have produced a Youtube putting the Thermomix Cutter through it's paces.
Below I've listed some food items that are fabulous with the slicer. I have also suggested whether they should be thick or thin sliced.
Slicer Blade
- Potato - Thick
- Sweet potato (any root vegetable) -Thick
- Carrot - Thick
- Onion - Thick
- Pumpkin - Thick
- Zucchini - Thick
- Mushroom - Thick
- Celery - Thick
- Cucumber - Thick
- Cooked beetroot - Thick
- Cabbage - Thick for stir fry - Thin for Coleslaw
- Apple - Thick
- Strawberry (firm) - Thick
- Tasty Cheese (straight from the fridge) - Thick
- Parmesan Cheese (any hard or semi-hard cheese) - Thin
Grating Blade
- Potato - Thick for Latkes
- Carrot - Thick for rice paper rolls or coleslaw - Thin for sandwiches and coleslaw
- Zucchini - thick for Zucchini Slice
- Tasty Cheese (or any semi-hard cheese) Thick for grated dishes - Thin for sandwiches
- Parmesan Cheese (or any hard cheese) Thin
- Cooked Beetroot - Thick
What Can't the Thermomix Cutter Handle?
Just like any food processor, mandoline, or box grater, there are some items of food the cutter is not going to handle. A good rule of thumb is to imagine how you would manage if you used a hand grater. Below is a list of things that isn't a great fit for the attachment, although I'm sure there are more things.
- Frozen food items
- Soft cheeses
- Cooked vegetables or fruit (the exception is beetroot)
- Cabanosi
- Orange Slices
- Lemon Slices
Maybe others may have some success with things that I failed at, but at this point that is my list.
Is It Dishwasher Safe?
Absolutely! Yes, it is dishwasher safe, but after most uses you will probably just need to give it a rinse under the tap and leave it on the draining rack. It really is that easy!
What is the Verdict?
In case you are unsure, I absolutely love the Thermomix Cutter. A food processor is the only small appliance I have missed since having the Thermomix and tossing my appliances. I am now very happy to be able to also bin my blunt mandolins!
This is a "must-have" accessory"!
