Thermomix Espresso Martini – A real pick-me-up!
If you need a cocktail with a big dose of “get up and go” the Thermomix Espresso Martini will tick your boxes. It’s deceptively sweet but the Vodka, Kahlua and caffeine all pack a punch that will keep you going into the night.
I recently held an evening cooking class and wanted to prepare a Thermomix cocktail for the ladies. I usually make fruit cocktails but given this class was being held in the evening on a work night, I thought an Espresso Martini might give the ladies a little bit of a pick up after a long workday.
The espresso martini is simple to make in the Thermomix. The main trick is getting the ratio of sugar, to coffee and booze correct. If the recipe is out of balance the cocktail will fail miserable and be too bitter, too strong or too sweet. After a bit of experimentation, I think I have the perfect combination.
Recipe for a Jug of Thermomix Espresso Martini
If you’re having a large get together making the espresso martini in the Thermomix makes everything super easy! Below I’ve given the recipe for 16 small martini’s.
- 240g sugar
- 400g vodka
- 400g Kahlua
- 640g espresso coffee shots (frozen)
Espresso Martini Variations
Ditch the Kahlua
There are a number of variations to the espresso martini. Not everyone uses Kahlua in the drink. If you don’t have Kahlua, or you don’t like it, try substituting the Kahlua for the following;
- Baileys Irish Cream
- Cadbury Chocolate Liqueur
Espresso Martini Twists
- Salted Caramel Espresso Martini – Substitute the sugar for the equivalent in caramel syrup or butterscotch snaps. Add a pinch of salt.
- Tiramisu Espresso Martini – Substitute 10g of Kahlua for 10g Baileys Irish Cream. Serve with a cream float.
