Carrot Cake Protein Bliss Balls are a healthier alternative to a traditional carrot cake. They have all the flavour of your favourite carrot can and are prepared in a fraction of the time.

I've been experimenting quite a lot with bliss balls recently because they're such an easy snack to make. I have two children still living at home, so making quick, healthy snacks is important. Previously, I have shared a recipe for Salted Pecan Pie Bliss Balls.

Lachlan is nearly 13 years old and is very sporty! He is also lean and very apathetic towards food. He likes most foods, but he just forgets to eat with all the sports.
To make matters worse, he has discovered "girls" recently, so now he also likes to do push-ups and sit-ups in his spare time. In an attempt to help him get the "big guns" he's after, I've been making protein-packed bliss balls.
This flavour was inspired by the recently released Thermomix Cookbook "Eat Well". Although I have made significant changes to the recipe to boost vitamins, minerals, and protein.
If you don't have a Thermomix you can make the recipe in any powerful food processor.

Carrot Cake Protein Balls - Food Processor Method
1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor
2. Blitz on high until a dough consistency starts to form.
3. Scrape down the side of the bowl and process until the desired level of chunky and smooth has been achieved.
4. Form small balls in your hand.
5. Roll each protein ball individually in the coconut.
6. Place on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Creamy Vanilla Vegan Protein Powder
I chose to use the White Wolf "Creamy Vanilla" Vegan Protein Powder in this recipe. In addition to having 23 g of easy-to-digest protein per 30 g serve, it also has;

FAQ asked Carrot Cake Bliss Balls Questions
Yes, you can! The White Wolf is merely a suggestion. If you want to use a protein powder you already have at home, the recipe will still work. Please ensure that the replacement protein powder is vanilla and palatable in its dry form.
If you would like to omit the protein powder, you can, but it won't have the same nutritional value. You will find that the Carrot Cake Bliss balls will be a little less vanilla, but they will still be delicious. To make up for the missing "dry element you will also need to add about 50 g rolled oats to the recipe.
Place them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge.
The bliss balls can be stored in the fridge for a week to 10 days.
No, it is best not to make a double batch as the ingredients are heavy and the machine is working hard. You don't want to put too much pressure on the blade or motor.

Carrot Cake Protein Bliss Balls
Ingredients
- 180 g pecan nuts
- 125 g carrot unpeeled and cut into 4-5 pieces
- 115 g Medjool dates pits removed
- 50 g Creamy Vanilla Protein Powder
- 50 g shredded coconut
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 32 sultanas optional
Bliss Ball Coating
- 60 g desiccated coconut *reserve for coating - see note
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in the TM bowl except sultanas. Blitz 10 sec/Speed 7.
- Scape down the bowl. Repeat 5 sec/Speed 7.
- Form the mixture into 16 balls, adding 2 sultana's to each ball if desired.
- Roll the protein balls in the reserved coconut.
- Place the carrot cake protein balls in the fridge for at least 30 minutes prior to serving.

What would you suggest I use as a substitute for pecan nuts as I have a nut allergy?

That’s a really difficult question as pecans are an important ingredient. But I would try a mix of Pepita seeds, sunflower Kernels.
