Bite From Nutella Fudge Brownies

My Nutella Double Chocolate fudge brownie recipe has a dense chocolate brownie base with a lush, silky soft fudge topping. The recipe is so simple to make & deliciously decadent.

Have you ever heard of a more amazing sounding treat? Although this dessert looks ridiculously rich it's actually not! It's the perfect level of chocolatey sweetness which means it's very difficult to stop at just one piece. Even stopping after two or three pieces is hard to do.

Luckily the recipe makes quite a large slice, so there will be plenty to go around. I like to make this dish when I'm asked to "bring a plate." It's a perfect choice because it's quick to make, looks fabulous, taste amazing and will serve a large number of people. Also, I find it best to get this baby out of the house very shortly after I make it so I don't eat too much myself.

Ingredients

Chocolate Brownie Base

  • 120 g salted butter
  • 170 g bittersweet chocolate
  • ¼ cup Dutch process chocolate powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar caster or regular sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Nutella Fudge

  • 395 gm Nestle Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 60 gm salted butter
  • 1 ½ cups dark chocolate melts
  • 1 cup Nutella

Instructions

Chocolate Brownie Base

  • Preheat oven to 180 Degrees Celcius or 350°F (180°C). Line roasting tray with baking paper.
A tray approx 30 cm x 20cm is ideal, although a variance in tray size will just make a taller or thinner slice so it's not that important.
  • Add the chocolate to the TM bowl. Mill 3 sec/Speed 9.
  • Add the butter, sugar and vanilla extract to milled chocolate in the TM bowl. Melt 5 min/100 degree/Speed 3.
  • Add eggs to TM bowl. Combine 20 sec/Speed 4.
  • Scrape down the bowl and add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Mix 1 min/Speed 4.

  • Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until cooked

  • Remove the fudge base from the oven and allow to cool in the tray.

Nutella Fudge

  • Add sweetened condensed milk, butter, chocolate melts and Nutella to the TM bowl.
 Melt 5min/100 degrees/Speed 2.
  • Scrape down the bowl and if the mixture isn't completely smooth repeat. 1 min/100degrees/Speed 2.
  • Spread the Nutella Fudge over the chocolate Brownie base, the base does not need to be cooled prior to the fudge being added to the top.

Notes

Refrigerate the slice prior to cutting. Store in the fridge until serving.
The nutritional information is based 30 pieces, you could easily reduce the calories by reducing the size of the slice.

So what is a Nutella Double Chocolate fudge brownie? I start by making my basic rich chocolate brownie and top it with a luscious layer of squishy Nutella fudge. In these pictures, I've drizzled some extra melted chocolate over the top of the slice before cutting it into squares. My favourite part is the Nutella fudge… I could probably almost eat that on its own!

Although this is a Thermomix recipe the Chocolate fudge brownie can easily be made by hand. The base is a basic "melt and mix" recipe which can be made in a saucepan. Whilst the brownie cooks, make the fudge in the microwave in another bowl. Simple!

    So I’m not a great cook and I lack a lot of confidence in my cooking. It would be great if you could be really specific with your recipes;
    - what size roasting tray
    - brownie base salted or unsalted butter
    - brownie base - white sugar, castor sugar, brown sugar or raw sugar
    - brownie base - plain flour or self raising
    Thanks
