Hey everyone, did you see me make these super quick Salmon Burgers on Facebook Live?? I love saying hi to everyone on Facebook and giving you some healthy weeknight meal ideas. If you missed the live broadcast, take a look at the Salmon Burgers video here.

Why I Love These Salmon Burgers

  • The main ingredient is canned salmon, something that can always be kept in the pantry.
  • It's a budget-friendly main meal
  • You probably don't need to go to the shops before you cook this dish. These are all pantry items. (You can skip the dill)
  • 5 minutes prep time to make the mixture.
  • If you bake the patties, your work is complete.

Serving Salmon Burgers

The Thermomix makes these salmon burgers a great weeknight option. The machine does all the chopping and processing for you! This allows the burger mixture to be made in under 5 minutes. Another time-saving option would be to prepare the salmon mixture into burger patties in the morning and then fry or bake them when you're ready to eat.

My family enjoys the salmon patties burger-style on a brioche roll or Turkish bread with salad and a herbed yoghurt dressing. I prefer to skip the roll and serve the salmon patty with a salad. I have included the recipe for my herbed yoghurt dressing, but if you prefer homemade mayonnaise, try my zesty Lime & Turmeric Aioli; this changes the flavour again!!

I love serving the burger patty with my Thermomix Coleslaw. This recipe includes an alternative slaw that uses fresh herbs like dill and parsley to complement the seafood flavor. You could also serve it with my Potato Salad for something more substantial, although I would leave out the salmon in that recipe. Pair the salmon burger with homemade Mash Potato, the ultimate comfort food.

Two plates with a large serving of herbed coleslaw and salmon burger patty.

More Thermomix Burgers

So I kind of LOVE burgers! Unlike commercially prepared burgers, when you make them yourself with delicious fresh, healthy ingredients and plenty of salad, they can be a valid menu item for everyone.

I have more burger recipes:

Double Stuffed Cheese Burger - Note, lol, don't forget the salad to balance this one! In my "A Mexican Fiesta Cookbook"

Double stuffed cheese burger on a plate with fries.

Pulled Pork Carnitas Burger - This one may not be as quick to make, but the flavour is amazing!

Finally, you could try my Sticky Asian Pork Burger for another taste sensation.

Salmon Patties Entree

Just like Corn Fritters or Thai Fish Cakes, these salmon patties can be made smaller and served as an appetizer. While I am happy frying a larger burger patty, for entree-sized servings, it's easier to place them on an oiled baking tray to cook.

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius fan forced or 220 conventional.
  • Place the patties on the oiled tray and spray with oil.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Turn the patties and cook for a further 5 minutes or until golden with a delicious crust.
  • Serve with a yoghurt dressing.

FAQ Salmon Burger Patty Thermomix

Can you use fresh salmon in the burger patty?

Yes, you can use fresh salmon, but you will need to cook it first.

There are too many Salmon burgers for me. Can I halve the amount?

Yes, buy a smaller tin of salmon and halve all of the other ingredients.

Can I freeze the salmon burger patties?

Yes, the uncooked burger patties should be shaped and can be frozen for up to 3 months. To cook them, just remove them from the freezer, allow them to defrost in the fridge, and then cook as normal.

I don't have any dill, garlic, chili, or shallots, just pantry staples. Can I still make the Salmon burgers?

Absolutely, they won't be quite as fancy, but you can add some dried herbs, onion powder, vegetable stock paste, or powder for a little extra flavour if you don't have the fresh herbs and spices.

How can I make these GF?

Swap out the regular bread crumbs for gluten-free bread crumbs.

Can I swap chicken mince for canned salmon?

Yes, you can, but be sure to cook the patties longer so they are cooked through.

I discovered Thermomix in 2014 and loved it so much I became a consultant for the brand.
